What does Rolfing treat?
Rolfing doesn’t just specialise in chronic pain treatment. Rolfing techniques are effective in a wide variety of circumstances; including but not limited to the following:
- Pain & Discomfort
- Back pain (caused by a multitude of factors)
- Neck pain (i.e. commonly causing headaches & dizziness)
- General aches & pains (including joint pain)
- Chronic pain
- Tension and tightness
- Nerve pain (e.g. sciatica)
- Related to connective tissue (tendons, ligaments & sheaths)
- Restricted Movement
Limited mobility can impair your lifestyle more than pain. From severe cases like frozen shoulder or joint impingement to the general tension, tightness and stiffness that everyone lives with to some degree, the state of your tissues can render you physically incapable and drastically reduce your quality of life.
Fortunately however that doesn't have to be the case. No matter what your age, there's no reason why you have to live like a prisoner in your own body. Let the Rolfing method help you break free and rediscover the joy of movement.
- Posture
From the time we are young children we are made aware of the critical importance of posture – and for good reason. Posture, better thought of as alignment, has a huge influence on bodily function and is therefore a key focus during Rolfing treatment.
Our modern lifestyles involve so much sitting that a 'head-forward' posture has become universal, and the havoc it wreaks on the body inevitable. Don't ignore what the person in the mirror has to show you – your posture is unique, and InMotus Rolfing has the tailored treatment to improve it.
- Surgery - Pre & Post
For someone living with debilitating chronic pain, surgery is an extremely appealing option and often one of the first proposed. But make no mistake - with surgery the stakes are high and results seldom guaranteed. Will it resolve your symptoms? Will it resolve the root cause of those symptoms? If it does reduce the pain, will it make you physically capable again? Rolfing treatment will, surgery may not. There's a lot to consider with chronic pain treatment – start here
- Medical Diagnosis
- Arthritis (both osteo and rheumatoid)
- Fibromyalgia (AKA fibrositis – related to myositis)
- Region specific issues (e.g. plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome)
- Degenerative conditions (attributed to 'wear and tear')
- Respiratory related disorders (asthma)
- Fluid retention (oedema)

How does Rolfing compare?
In a world of a thousand complementary therapies, here’s how Rolfing compares to 3 of the biggest chronic pain management techniques:

Meet your Rolfer
At 22 years of age my body fell apart. For a young man I was physically incapable, and the alarm bells that rang out all over my body were deafening. Out of my disbelief came conviction: I was not prepared to put up with it. I was not going to live the rest of my life that way.
My journey began in a familiar way, wandering through well-known complementary therapies. As the years past the failures grew in number, along with symptoms that only continued to worsen. I had to change my approach. No more reliance upon the professionals; I had to widen my gaze and take control. Enter Rolfing.
I once stood where you stand now; and thanks to the Rolfing method I’ve been fortunate enough to walk the path back to good health. Along the way, in 2014, I was certified as a Rolfer by the European Rolfing Association and immediately returned to Sydney to establish my practice. Armed with a wealth of personal and professional experience, I’m well poised to help you walk a path of your own. A path that leads to a body, and a life, you never dreamt was possible. Ready when you are.
